The Big Sky HAZUS User Group met on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 9:00 AM at the Helena NF office in Helena. Doug Bausch presented on HAZUS-MH software. The group discussed applying the flood module to assess potential impacts of Spring flooding in the Lincoln area.

Background:

In August 2003, the Snow-Talon Fire burned approximately 38,000 acres near Lincoln, Montana and post-fire flooding is anticipated with snow melt this year.

• Flood Module permits estimations of potential losses and damages at the Census Block level.
• HAZUS estimates are useful when figuring mitigation benefits and applying for PDM grants.
• FIT tool formats input (ground surface, flood surface, area of interest)
