Open Source Risk Models
a vision for the future

HAZUS.org was recently a co-sponsor of a workshop to address Open-Source Catastrophe Risk Modeling.  This March 2005 workshop brought together international experts from academia, the private sector and the public sector interested in modeling flood, earthquake and hurricane risk.  This workshop was organized by the Risk Prediction Initiative of the Bermuda Biological Station for Research, Inc.  HAZUS, as one of the most widely available risk modeling software systems, was an underlying topic of discussion at the workshop.
